Mission 01: Herd the Goats. Again.
Ordon Ranch
This section is really short. I mean - really really short. Why so short? Because looking back I should have made Mission 01 longer, but I like to end on save game moments.
Yes, I know - you can save your game whenver you want. Work with me, here.
When the game starts (assuming you are following this guide exactly, and I know you are), Link will once again be on the ranch with Fado, who is still unable to get the goats into the barn without your help. Use the near by grass to call Epona to you. As it turns out, Epona is a magic horse that can move through solid objects. Do Fado a favor and get the goats back inside, then jump the fences to get out.
Ordon Village
Once you're out, you'll meet up with Ilia and the Mayor. And, in the time honored tradition of male/female relationships, Link is in trouble. Epona was injured during yesterday's romp with the monkeys and moblins, and Ilia (who evidently has a massive horse fetish) decides that Epona just can't go anywhere until she's had a dip in the spirit spring.
Optional Mission 01: Stop the Goat!
If you stop and have a chat with the Mayor, one of the goats will get loose from the ranch. Really, how hard is this goat herding stuff, anyway? When the goat comes down the road, you can stop it by getting in its way and pressing A. Do you get anything for this? No - but it's good practice for later on in the game.
Hint. Hint, hint.
Optional Mission 02: Shoot the Bees
The other thing you can do is stop and talk to Sera's husband, who's trying desperately to hit a beehive with rocks. Why any intelligent person would do this is beyond me.
Instead, let's hit it with your Slingshot! Just point the Wiimote right at the bees and knock it down. And run! Run from the bees! Your weapons are useless against them!!!
Ahem. You can run away and the bees will leave you alone. If you take an empty jar and head back up to the now fallen beehive, you can get some grubs - useful should you go fishing some time. For right now, I think it's more important you have some Red Potion than bee larvae on hand. (Though you can eat the bee larvae in a pinch. Tastes like chicken. Liver.)
Mission 02: Go to the Spirit Spring
If there's nothing else you want to do in Ordon Village, head back to the Link's House.
When you get to your house, Colin and the rest of the kids will be there waiting. Problem is, Malo and Talo won't let you by until you let them play with your sword.
That sounds a lot worse than it is. Come on - this is a family friendly game here. Mostly.
Now, I probably would have told them to go to hell, pushed them over, taken their lunch money, and contiued on my way. Link, being that he's a Good GuyTM has no other choice other than to give them the dang thing.
When they're out of the way, walk ahead to the spirit spring. Ah - poop! Ilia is so mad at you, she goes and locks the gate to the spring! What a naughty word we won't use here! (But it rhymes with "itch".) You can talk to Colin through the fence, who lets you know you can get through the tunnel to the South.
Go South, and you'll see the hole in the earth. When you stand before it, press A to make Link crouch down and walk on through.
There - now we're back with Epona, Ilia learns that Epona likes Link more than her, and everybody is happy. There are no more worries! Everything is fine!
Ah, crap.
