Every Village Has a Troublemaker

Meh - could have been worse. At least I'm pretty sure you're not going to rip out my heart.

Finally - we are out of that horrible dungeon. But what's this - Link is still a wolf? Well, that might not be all bad. Now he can pee wherever he wants, lick himself when he pleases, and eat his own vomit. Being a wolf will be great!

Well, other than the "sleep outside, friends still in danger, and getting fleas from your wolf girlfriend/boyfriend".

Speaking of girlfriends, that sexy little minx Midna is still with us, flashing that eye and one good tooth. She'll help you out - but first you need to get her something. Something special. A sword and a shield.

OK - maybe not that special, but it's a start. All right - if you're going to rescue Link's friends, we'd better listen to Twilight Spice here.

Mission 1: Save the Squirrel!

If you decide not to listen to Midna, you could head North and see what's up. Remember where you were first drawn into the Twilight Realm and turned into a wolf? Well, you can't go there any more. Midna was right - without her help, you are going nowhere fast.

Instead, head South back to Link's house. As you do you, you'll find a Moblin in your way. Defeat him and keep going. Should you feel like it, you can activate Link's Senses and dig up the sparkling holes around you. That's if you feel like it.

Guarding Link's house are two more Moblins. Take the two of them out - you'll notice when you know one down, you can't hurt them until they get up again. When that happens, just pound on the other one, then finish off the first. When they're all gone, move South towards the village.

Yeah, well, it's my after shave, "Pine Sol".

That's when Skippy the Talking Squirrel pops up to thank you. Actually, his name isn't Skippy (it's probably something like "He Who Likes to Suck on Nuts", which is pretty much the name of all squirrels), and he's only talking because as a wolf you can understand all animals.

Remember this - it might come in handy later. Hint, hint.

OK - now that we have that critical data, head South into Ordon Village. Let's see what's been happening since we've been gone.

Mission 2: Hey! Listen!

It appears that what's been happening is the town getting raided by monsters, the children being kidnapped, and the grownups contracting a horrible case of the whineys. Just listen to them. "Oh, my children were taken, oh, I'm so pathetic." Where's the guy to act like Arnold Swarzenegger on rhoid rage to go kick some ass?

Oh, right - that's Link's job. Sorry.

We need to find ourselves a shield and sword. Now, see that guy up on top of the rock with the vines? I know - you can't climb up the rock. The point is to STAY AWAY FROM THE ROCK. You'll find out why later. But for now - STAY AWAY FROM THE GUY UP ON THE ROCK. Go around it and head towards where the Mayor and the rancher talking.

You'll have to get pretty close. When you get close, you can press A to listen to their discussion. If you're not close enough, you'll just get a sentence or two. I'd shoot for the tall grass next ot the fence. When you do, you'll be able to hear the whole conversation. The shield is in the house the Mayor is in front of, while the sword is over in Rusl's house.

That's good - now we just need to get to them. First thing? Head back to the guy on the rock.

I know - I said not to do that. Let's do it anyway.

Mission 3: Scare the Watcher

I am - Hawkguy! Fear me as I flip the bird at you!

See the torch lit at the base of the rock? Go into the light, Link! Go into the light - Ah, crap! We're being attacked by a hawk! Run away! (Under the bridge is a good hiding place.) OK - now we know - don't approach that guy from the front.

Go around him, and you'll be approached by the cat who says something like "Hahahaha - you suck, ran away from a bird!" Now, if Link was a real wolf, he'd just eat the cat. Instead, the cat makes a good recommendation to approach from the back. Go stand on the rock next to the store, and Midna will indicate where you can jump up.

Once you get on top of the roof, jump to the back of the watcher. That will scare the dickens out of him, and you'll have the spot all to yourself.

Mission 4: Get the Shield

With the guard out of the way, let's go get that shield. Approach the waterwheel, and Midna will indicate where you can jump. Once you're on top of the roof, then you can slip inside the window.

Now we're inside. Where's the shield again? Up in the loft. Hop onto the table and Midna will show you how to jump up. There's the shield on the wall, but we can't just pick it up. (Why? Because Link has no hands. Remember?) Instead, run at the wall and press A. That will cause Link to crack his head into the wall. Nice - you're giving Link a concussion. But you also knocked the shield half way off the wall. Do it again, and you'll knock it all the way off. With that, you'll have the Ordon Shield. It's wood. Don't set it on fire.

There - one down, one to go. Climb out the window in the loft and you'll be back outside.

Mission 5: Get the Sword

Once you're out of the left, drop down back to the ground. Move to the Eastern side of town, and you'll see Rusl (yeah - right, I bet he's faking that head wound) and his wife talking. When they're done, he'll go on patrol. You need to get past him, and he needs to run you through with his sword if you wander into his path.

Sneak around him - I found it best just to wait until he had walked by, then hug the fence and move to the far East side of the house. Turn on your Wolf senses so you can see the sparkling ground right next to the house. Perfect - just Dig there, and Link will make his way inside.

So where's the sword? Right on the couch like they said. Snag it, then Dig back at the side of the house where you came in from. And we're done! Just get out of town!

Mission 6: Meet the Spirit

Ack! I'm blind! I'm blind! I - OK - just what the heck are you suppose to be, anyway?

Once you're out of town, head North back to the forest. When you pass by the Spirit Spring, you'll hear something calling you. Go on into the spring. So you can get trapped and attacked by a Twilight creature!

OK - don't panic. He isn't any harder than anything else you've run across. Just target him, and press A to jump on his chest and bite him, or swing the Wiimote to lay him low. When it's dead, the barrier trapping you will vanish. Now you can go.

Only - something stops you. Something calling to you. Something that looks like it was thought up during a very odd drug trip. Woah - it's all sparkly, and tells you that the twilight creatures are stealing the light of the protective spirits. This is where Donald Trump should appear, tell this three spirits that They're Fired, and replace them with some bad ass mercenaries with machine guns.

Not going to happen - it's up to Link. Bummer. So leave the spring and head back north into the Forest. Let's find Link's little friends. Just be aware - once you enter here, you might not be able to come back for awhile....
